From Quaid to Nawaz Sharif!

As the clock ticks twelve on 24 December the celebration starts all over the world. For Pakistan its one mega day marking the day of Christmas , the founding fathers birthday and the birthday of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif sb. It is commonly believed that people sharing the same birth-date have some common aspects in personality. It can be easily proven by comparing these two great leaders.

Apart from being born on the same date both these leaders also share some other qualities. The leadership skills of both this leaders are unparalleled. Both were limited socially till the time they were continuing there studies and both were students of law. Jinnah was motivated in politics through his uncle Dada bhai Noro Ji and Nawaz Sharif was motivated in politics by his uncle Abdul Majeed. Quaid E Azam moto of work work and work is being followed by Nawaz Sharif sb. Many don't know Quaid E Azam was greatly interested in sports and was  a good sportsmen. Mian Nawaz Sharif also has great interest in sports and is still a hardworking sportsman. Quaid E Azam made Muslim League and Nawaz Sharif is carrying his legacy towards betterment!

This sums up almost all the personality traits of both the leaders and clearly indicates that it has been a journey from "The founding father" to "The saving father".  Quaid e Azam went through self exile in 1930s for 4 years and returned with a greater vision for creation of Pakistan and Mian Nawaz Sharif was forcefully exiled for 9 long years and have come up with a greater vision to save Pakistan. Quaid's team was for creation of Pakistan and Mian sb's team for a stable and prosperous Pakistan!
The speeches of the Quaid e Azam are the best archives preserved for educating the future generation and telling them which leader possess the qualties and have done according to vision of Quaid in the past. After independace Quaid made a speech in which he said,
"Muslman musaibat mein ghabraya nhi karte" (A muslim doesnt panic in problems)
Then it was Mian Nawaz Sharif sb who proved this sentance of Quaid e Azam and made Pakistan nuclear Pakistan through his courage and resistance to global pressure.
( Pictures of Quaid-E-Azam and Mian Nawaz Sharif during a speech)

Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif's two brief governments have given Pakistan what Quaid visioned and dreamed of. Mian Nawaz Sharif is the only leader Baloch nationalist are open to talk to and seems to fulfill Quaid's vison of a united Pakitan. The infrastructural development and harmony among the provinces is what Quaid wanted for a better Pakistan.
Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in the current time have emerged as the national leader who is talking about Pakistan and has not slowed down his work for a better Pakistan despite biased and vague criticism by a cricketer turned cricketer. Mian Nawaz Sharif wants the continuation of democratic process and is currently trying not to take Pakistan towards anarchy so that establishment doesn't plunge in and ruin this country.

I wish my Quaideens (Jinnah and Mian Nawaz Sharif) a very happy birthday and hope that Pakistan prospers. I hope Mian Nawaz Sharif delivers as he delivered in the past and make Pakistan "Global Tiger". Pakistan Zindabad!

Imran Khan fooled you!

Social media is an important medium to communicate with people and helps bridge the distance between miles within a few clicks. Use of social media has been taken up very aggressively between the political parties of Pakistan and people have shown their great interest in it too. The problem arises when these people are betrayed and fooled. The self declared social media king "PTI" have been fooling you. Yes , they have been!
PTI's social media team compromises of some great trolls who have been by many declared as trolls and given the title of Social media gutter of Pakistan! But this party of change has been fooling you for years on social media. Let it be the the fake list of politicians involved in Bahria Scandal by Dr Awab (the Dentist)  or the fake accusations by PTI , they have been fooling you. But this time its greater , its Imran Khan who has been fooling you. He fooled the nation as if he was using his own twitter account to get more followers but that is not the case.

This proves that its not Imran Khan who uses the account but someone elese. Its not about Imran Khan using the account or not but his lie that he was. People thought that man behind the account was Imran Khan and they would follow him and tweet to him crazily to get responded but now they feel heart broken that they were fooled by Imran Khan.
Mian Shehbaz Sharif is also on facebook but his staff team uses his account and its clear to the people and when he does post something by himself he using his signature (SS). The post by CM's team clearly mentions (admin)
and below is the post by CM himself which he mentions SS in the end. Thank God we have people who are truthful unlike Imran Khan!

Couldn't Imran Khan do the same rather then opting for cheap tactics to gain more followers! How can one trust a person who lies with his own people? I can't and makes me wonder how anyone else can!

Happy Birthday Khadim-e-Alla!

by Majid Tamoor (@MajidTamoor)

So I pick my pen just a day before 23 September to pay a tribute to a one of the greatest administrator I have ever come across! I am writing about Mian Shehbaz Sharif sb! Just in the starting I would like to wish the Khadim-e-Alla of Punjab,Happy birthday! There a lot of reasons that provoked me to right a special blog for Shehbaz Sharif sb!

Shehbaz Sharif sb has been a true inspirational leader for the youth and the other age groups aswell. The man is great and upright when it comes to service and leaves no stone unturned to serve his people. Since he has come in power his government has faced many challenges but he have faced them like a true warrior and produced good results for the country. The picture below is one of the reasons to go for the man:

The man is there for his people and in the times when the people needs him the most. To his success in the Punjab govt are projects like:
  1. Incentives for students (PEEF,forgein trips for students )
  2. Daanish Schools
  3. E-youth initiatives ( a visionary policy that will help education in Pakistan)
  4. Ashiana Housing schemes
  5. Land record system , when others only talked he devised a powerful system to stop land grabbing!
  6. Labour colonies
  7. Ramazan Bazars
  8. Innovation Punjab
  9. Vocational training for 50 thousand people
  10. Punjab disaster management
  11. Solid Waste management
  12. Mass Transit bus system
  13. Foreign Direct investment (Chinese investment in foton buses and and Turkish investment in solid waste management and rapid transit bus system)
  14. Better education facilties (47000 more students inducted in primary schools and 72000 recruitment of teachers on merit)
  15. Model Villages
  16. Solar panels (in villages and for less privileged)
  17. Industrial estates in Rahim Yar Khan
  18. Better healthcare facilities (hospitals established in Bahawalpur,Rawalpindi and etc)
  19. Establishing IT labs!
  20. And lastly all his projects are on MERIT!

And a lot more to his credit as a remarkable and inspirational administrator! Despite being in the govt only in Punjab , Shehbaz Sharif sb has acted like a national leader and helped other provinces in the time of need.Let it be NFC award or the flood affected areas; CM Punjab is always there for his country. One must not forget his efforts for controlling the dengue epidemic. He was there on roads to spread awareness and is now praised by the Sri Lankan experts for his remarkable steps to eradicate dengue!

Apart from his political career what inspires me about Shehbaz Sharif is his great brother Mian Nawaz Sharif sb! Both have been ,proved, great asset to the country! Other than that Shehbaz Sharif sb is very unconventional in his style and I call it the CM style! Look at the picture below:

From watching few of his interviews with his family I came to know about that he is always busy in serving the public and gets less time to be with his family . Below is a picture of CM with his grand daughter:

The picture speaks so much for itself.Just like any grandfather the CM eyes are shining seeing his granddaughter happy and you can see them dreaming for the little angel!

In the end now putting it up as Shehbaz Sharif sb says;
“My people are my family”
I feel proud to be wishing the CM Shehbaz Sharif sb and somewhere in the corner of my heart feel safe as I know he is the CM who is always around for his people. He has not been in good health but was there for his people.Doctors advised him rest but he was with the public! Good to have you around Shehbaz Sharif sb.Its good to see Shehbaz Sharif sb always there for his public but I request the Khadim-e-Al;a also to look after his health.I wish Shehbaz Sharif sb good health and long life this birthday. And yes ,InshAllah, there are a lot to come! God bless Shehbaz Sharif!

NO to Imran Khan’s Change – My 8 reasons

2013 is going to be the election year in Pakistan. There is a lot of political hip hop in Pakistan at the moment. Pakistan People’s Party has been in power for a record 5th time in history of Pakistan and have ruled us in last five years. Looking at the inflation, unemployment, war on terror impacts on Pakistanis and especially the energy crisis in Pakistan, PPP has failed miserably in governance. Imran Khan has become a self proclaimed messiah of the doomed nation in the mean time. I have impartially considered him to see if he deserves my vote, and the answer my analysis as a layman brings forward is a big NO. Here are my reasons to say No to Imran Khan’s Change.
  • Imran Khan a rolling stone???
Pakistanis have loved Imran Khan deeply. There were slogans like “Lion of Pakistan, Imran Khan, Imran Khan” in the 1980s which I remember from my childhood. What was the back ground? Did Imran present the country’s budget? No. Was it some meeting with a foreign delegation for future direct investment? No. Was he involved in preparing the country’s defence plan? No. Then what was the source of love and respect he gained? Oh now I remember. He was a sportsman. One of the best ones in his field. He is from a family of cricketers, and he has spent 45 years of his life becoming an expert in Cricket. One fine day he decides to sort out the social, legal, governance, health, poverty, employment and defence related problems of Pakistan and that makes me laugh. A person who has all his life’s experience in Cricket considers himself better for running a country? Too optimistic and kiddish. Is Imran a rolling stone not? Who will gather no moss?
  • Imran Khan’s language-do I want my representative to speak like he does nowadays?
Not at all. With power comes responsibility. This is especially true if you are an elected member of national assembly. A person who ridicules his opponents (well till the time they remain his opponents) with language not worthy of it, how will he treat the people if he ever comes in power? What happened to the decent Imran Khan we knew? Or was the “Finally “I” managed to win the world Cup” speech is just his nature? His language is most definitely my reason of NOT voting for him.
  • Imran Khan’s focus-why is it adjusted on Punjab only?
One major thing that makes me believe Imran Khan is not a good choice for my vote is his extreme focus on Punjab. An unbiased review of the performance of all 4 provinces in last 5 years will prove that Punjab Government has launched a lot many projects for public benefit in comparison to the other 3 provincial governments and the federal government put together. In Punjab the 2010 floods were tackled much better in terms of relief in comparison to Sindh where flood water of 2010 is still standing in some low lying areas. Im sure Punjab can be run much better than this, but in the given circumstances it still happens to be the most well managed province in Pakistan. Why Imran Khan is NOT concerned about any other part of Pakistan? The people dying in target killings daily in Karachi are not Pakistanis? The Hazara shias being killed in Quetta are not Muslims? The people killed by Taliban and other extremists in KPK are not Humans? Why is his concern and criticism only focused on Punjab? Makes me believe Imran has no plan for Pakistan. Whatever he is planning is only for Punjab. This makes him unfit to get my vote as premiere of Pakistan.
  • Imran’s politics is too bookish
Pakistan is a complex socio-political region. We are not simple people to deal with. There are forces like religion, economics and social pressures of very different kinds that shape our daily lives. I find Imran Khan’s solution to our problems very bookish. Who in his right senses would claim he would end the war on terror on his first day in office? Or that he can root out corruption in this culture within 9 days?  This society is no Europe or USA. Imran seems to know very little about the nation he claims to be the savior of.
  • Imran’s followers and their “holier than thou” attitude
Something is wrong with Imran and his followers. I searched for information myself but couldn’t find any information related to how Imran Khan earns. Also, it looks like he never filed a tax return all his cricketing life. Amazing is the fact that Imran still points out others for not paying taxes. What can you think of a person who does not follow a rule, but wants others to follow? I do not want a person with this double standard to be my leader. Imran’s followers have every right to like him, but no right to disrespect other leaders. They follow Imran and use foul language. They go to the level that they declare you a non patriot if you don’t like Imran. Is Imran some kind of “farz”? No. And this attitude is trickling down from his own person to his followers. He considers himself better for no reason and after committing the same mistakes others do, he screams at top of his voice what others are doing. Again. Kiddish. Again, NO!
  • Imran’s zana case, and allegations on SKMH funds misuse
Being a Muslim do I really want a playboy of his youth to be my leader? No. Imran had an illegitimate daughter borne to Sita White. The kid in now in guardian custody of Jemima James, Imran’s ex wife. Though the court in USA has declared her to be Imran’s daughter where Sita White won the parental rights case against Imran, Tyrian Khan’s eyes are enough proof of her being Imran’s daughter. Being a playboy all his life, he has had a lot of illegal relationships out of wedlock with a number of women. The story does not end here. Imran Khan proves himself to be a hypocrite when he points fingers at others for looking at a woman. A recent press conference where he demanded from Nawaz Sharif the PML (N) chief to confirm if he has been loyal with his wife is something disgusting. This s disgusting not because of the cheapness of question, but because of the fact that the cheapest of all playboys is asking the question! Imran, a hypocrite-NO to him yet again!
Recently Khwaja Asif from PMLN has brought forward this issue of funds of zakat from SKMH being invested outside Pakistan. The information comes from the audit report of SKMH, so it cannot be a scam. SKMH is a great initiative by Imran Khan which he achieved by th support of all Pakistan. Doesn’t we deserve an explanation about this funds misuse? No explanation till now. Zakat funds CANNOT be used for investment. I have been donating to SKMH till this issue came to limelight and no one has ever asked me at SKMH collection booths about the money if it is zakat or not. The funds received are thus a mix of zakat and other donations and cannot and must not be misused. Imran can betray the people who stood by him for making this hospital a reality. Imran can take the credit of winning the World Cup alone when it was a squad of 16 who did it. Imran can betray his mother’s name in SKMH scams. Is he trust worthy then? NO.
  • Imran has no plan but allegations and statements only
Whenever I have tried to see Imran Khan’s point of view from a neutral point of view I have always found he has no plan. He knows nothing about how things work in Pakistan. All he can do is bringing forward more and more allegations. This style of work might be good for a Star Plus daily Soap but Pakistan for sure needs better workable plans. He brings forward allegations, claims to have proofs, never brings forward the proofs. So, is it all a hoax? Looks like that other wise he would have shown something-anything which can be considered as a proof in last 15 years. Indecent attitude- A big NO to Imran Khan.
  • Finally, Imran’s Team and his Change
Since we started having general elections in Pakistan, we have seen Kasuris, Tareens. Legharis-What’s new then? Where is the change? Just that we have to vote for the same person under a new party name and that is all? A Kasuri we have had in parliament some five times and now he is being introduced as a CHANGE? Imran Khan really considers Pakistanis to be idiots, isn’t it the case?
So, what do I say to a rolling stone, who uses indecent language, is focused only on one province out of four, offers bookish solutions, with a proven zana case and SKMH funds allegation still carries that “holier than thou” attitude, is all about allegations and no proofs and promises to bring change by bringing back all so familiar faces to the national assembly-A big NO!
Imran Khan does not deserve my Vote. That’s my analysis. I respect everybody’s views. Respect mine as well.

Brain Drain in Pakistan!

When one hears this word, they surprisingly mistake the meaning to a serious disease and many go to  the extent by calling it a disease which affects the memory. Well I believe although mistaken but the intensity is same as of major disease. Pakistan , sadly, is greatly affected by brain-drain. So, what is Brain-Drain? Brain-Drain is actually the loss of skilled intellectual and technical labor through the movement of such labor to more favorable geographic, economic, or professional environments.
Countries like Pakistan, Russia and India are facing problems of brain-drain. Unemployment, population explosion and corrupt political systems are main reasons for migration of skilled workers from Asia. In countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc graduates, post graduates, experienced and skilled professionals are not getting enough opportunities to develop and succeed. So with dreams of development these professionals leave their native country in search of better future. This brain-drain is a great loss to the developing countries.
A highly skilled workforce is the key to the development of a knowledge economy. Countries that have invested massively in their human resources have been able to establish high-technology industries with the resulting stupendous impact on their respective economies. The quality of higher education, availability of world class R&D (Research and Devolpment) centres and an environment in which innovation and entrepreneurship can flourish are essential to wealth generation and poverty alleviation.
Pakistan has since its creation never really invested in the field of R&D centres and this now has become the need of time. Most of Pakistani students going abroad for higher, or specialized, education every year, very often never return to their homeland. Though Pakistan has a number of institutions for higher education, various students prefer going abroad. Many experience a good lifestyle and then prefer settling there which in the long run has damaged Pakistan in growing economically as well as socially.
Other reasons that contribute to brain-drain in Pakistan are
1.   Economics reasons
In addition to several legitimate political reasons including peace and security for himself and his family, another reason is economic; such as job satisfaction, academically progressive environment, better pay and service conditions.
2.   Lack of financial and academic reasons
The lust for better life and higher education is a strong reason behind the brain-drain from Pakistan. There is no doubt that more and better opportunities in the US and UK are one of the attractions to moving there. No good institution for research and doctorate level and post doctorate level is available in Pakistan.
3.  Role of political will in the prevention of brain drain
The political instability let the people leave the motherland for a better future with some prediction. There is a dire need to assure the manpower to remain present in Pakistan. A diplomatic solution should be given a priority to resolve conflicts rather than going to let the people do what they want.
4.    Lack of higher education Institutes
Science and technology is an area that is not fully exploited by the Pakistan resources. A less budget sliced away for education is the reason in leaking the higher studies which trigger the brain-drain.
This is just the tip of the iceberg and a lot more reasons  are there. For the balance of power and for the staggered development of the world, it is very important to stop the phenomenon of brain-drain. This will help a particular country to use all local skilled citizens for development and proliferation. But to hold these skilled workers at Pakistan, it is also important to provide them enough work opportunities and living facilities. For this purpose the government of Pakistan believes that developed nations should help developing countries with necessary money and resources but this is not all right! Government should draft policies which ensure a better future to every individual and improve the living standard of people. The government should try to rectify problems mentioned above with good policies so that each and every human of this planet can have good standard of living and each and every nation can introduce itself as a developed nation.

Pakistan Zindabad!

Pakistan Zindabad! As 14 August approaches I hear more of these “so called” patriotic slogans being chanted by the “so called” enthusiastic Pakistanis. Many who have read my first line must be filled with disgust and might be thinking that I am not a true Pakistani. But I am a true Pakistani who believes that before I call myself a patriotic Pakistani I shall do something for a better and progressive Pakistan. When I achieve what I believe I will be a proud Pakistani.

Pakistan since it birth has been in a hostile state. There have been only a few moments in history to be cherished and that one can be proud of. We Pakistanis have always demanded other Pakistanis to take the lead and make the nation proud rather one himself rises and steps forward. Time is changing so are the people. Pakistan with passing of days is becoming younger and more youth oriented. The population of Pakistan compromises of 60 percent of youth which is a healthy sign but the youth is not mature and still needs to be polished and passed through different phases to be called “responsible”. So they can look after their country. The youth, sadly, is lost!

The youth is getting fed from tide of populism and is getting carried away from the real task! They are out in rallies but not studying and getting expertise in their respective fields. They chant slogan for change and yet are unaware that they are being played by the man showing them these dreams. The man is Imran Khan. Khan’s change is a change for Imran Khan not for Pakistan. His change is an engineered one and someone else is mastering it. However, my difference with Khan is over politicizing the youth. Khan should provide the youth platform to express their real talents rather use them for his doings.

But politics is not only what presents my thoughts but the darkness is all over. But I am optimistic that things will change and we shall as a nation rise. We just need to develop the national feeling which is lost but certainly is there. We need to prioritize what is in better interest of Pakistan and how can “we” contribute for the betterment. In the end I appeal to the youth of Pakitan that it is high time for you to organize for real change then we all shall say proudly Pakistan Zindabad!

Meanwhile listen to this national anthem:

The social media shame!

PTI’s insecurity with rising of PML N as a social media giant has left many in its rank with fear and is troubled with PML N’s growing popularity on social media. It was in light of this PTI initiated a negative and false campaign against PML N’s social media team. The campaign was launched on twitter under #PMLNSocialMediaShame but failed to get public support and most of the neutrals termed it as a cheap tactic to gain mileage on social media.  The so-called exposed revolved around some screenshots of discussion in facebook group which proves nothing about the false accusation that PTI claims. The man behind all this ill propaganda is no one other than Dr Awab who was also associated with production of fake documents against journalists.
The reasons about launching this campaign were obvious. One reason was PML N as a social media giant. PTI and PML(N) are the two Pakistani political parties acting as social media giants. PTI is there on social networking site since last 3-4 years whereas PML(N) just launched there Facebook page in November 2011. Social media has allowed both parties to communicate more effectively to the public. Many have termed PTI as a social media terrorist because of their hostile behaviour towards criticism. As soon as you post something against Imran Khan or PTI, you should be ready to have the comment list filled with abuses by the PTI fans. To draw a comparison, PML(N) has used its medium of social media responsibly and in an effective way.
Another reason was to hide the defeat of PTI as Justice (R) Fakurdin G Ibrahim was appointed as Chief Election commissioner which was due to PML N sitting in opposition.Imran Khan who was asking PML N to resign who realized but failed to appreciate PML N’s role in  Fakurdin Ibrahim’s in appointment as CEC. To hide the embarrassment PTI initiated this campaign which was actually to cover up Imran Khan shame!
One should realise that only limited audience uses social media and work should be done on ground level rather than establishing a Facebook government. PML N’s “Kal kay Quaid” seems a promising event for finding leaders among youth rather than PTI using youth to abuse on social media. Now as I have criticized PTI a bit, I shall be open to receive abusive comments from PTI-wallahs

The Mediagate and SMS!

Before we move further watch the video being discussed:

14 June 2012 was perhaps the most shocking day for journalism and many anchors. The day when a few off cameras videos leaked .The whole situation was an alarming one and disappointing at the same time. The same media which was considered vibrant and a source of awareness among masses came out to be a tool of manipulation and misinformation. Nothing much was expected from Mubasher Lucman, Musharaf’s tenure minister, as he had previously indulged into yellow journalism and given signs of his affiliation with the third party. What more disappointing was Mehar Bukhari who was ,until the video leaked, thought as a powerful lady voicing to bring the truth through her courage and bold questions. There was a rage on social media after the video leakage and many comments hurled under the videos. The whole essence of those comments can be summed up into few words; “We as a nation are betrayed”. Perhaps yesterday events helped me understand the meaning of an idiom “Money Talks”. It was clear that Mehar Bukhari and Mubasher Lucman were few of those want to be intellectuals who seek their questions from guests with obviously a bit cash under the table.
Another thing that was propagating from the video leak was Maryam Nawaz’s SMS to Mehar Bukhari. It was a saddening sight to see the “youth” plunging into this matter and targeting the wrong person. Before elaborating the propaganda on social media read the context of Maryam Nawaz’s text message to Mehar Bukhari;
“Hamza Shehbaz was offered a bullet proof car from Malik Riaz but refused to accept it and returned it to Malik Riaz with thanks”
We also hear Mehar Bukhari saying in the video;
“Maryam Nawaz has just texted me saying that Hamza didn’t receive any car and I can say that on the behalf of Sharifs.”
The above two quotes almost kill the ill propaganda directed towards Maryam Nawaz. It’s clear that Maryam Nawaz didn’t text or call Malik Riaz and neither asked Mehar Bukhari to make it say from Malik Riaz. She clearly presented her family stance and clarified it from her end which was seconded by Malik Riaz statement that the car was never accepted by Hamza Shehbaz.It has been more than 24 hours since the attack hurled by, mostly, PTI wallahs on Maryam Nawaz and I am still not able to comprehend what is the lady being targeting. One possesses every right to deny baseless allegations so why create such a fuss if Maryam Nawaz did it? Perhaps the name Maryam “Nawaz Sharif” is what is haunting the PTI social media kids.They shall criticize PML N any step regardless of the fact its require or not. On the other hand Maryam Nawaz’s response to bitter questions on her social media space is appreciable and one must appreciate her courage to tackle not so friendly, many were abusive, questions. Journalists like Raza Rumi and Uamr Cheema also supported Maryam Nawaz’s position. Maryam Nawaz on the whole issue states;
“I text Mehar denying the allegation and there’s nothing wrong in defending oneself. I did not ask Malik Riaz to clarify. Don’t know him”
The funny thing I came across is Shireen Mazari’s daughter’s tweet criticizing Maryam Nawaz and Hamza Shehbaz indulging into dirty politics. When I responded to her tweet she was left clueless and didn’t respond. Maybe she is from that group of kids who want a revolution but a bit hustle scares them and they want others to act.
Overall the day was a disappointing one but a lot positive can be taken from it. For media defiantly a code of conduct is required. Secondly for Maryam Nawaz ,or as I call her leader on the rise Maryam Nawaz, well done and the later seems more tough but you possess the qualities of tackling and moving forward. Lastly for me it’s time to get ready to taste same abusive comments from PTI-wallahs as I have criticized them.

Convicted Crime Minister and Pakistan!

It is so unfortunate seeing a convicted PM proud and taking honor on his conviction. It has been more than two weeks that Pakistan's Criminal Prime Minister was declared convicted by the apex court on charge of Contempt of court.Mr Gilani however seems relax and is enjoying being the world's only acting convicted Prime minister hence making him crime minister.Rather being ashamed he is on his UK tour .The opposition parties have decided not to accept Mr Gillani as PM and have called for protests and rallies against the Gilani government .PML N is one such party who has hit the roads for supremacy of law and is gathering large support for it.There gathering in Lahore and Gujranwala is a clear proof that people now want change. Mian Nawaz Sharif's role in the past has been admirable and he seems to getting things right gathering massive public support for his decisions. However, Imran Khan's PTI has also called for Save judiciary movement but Imran Khan seems to enjoy political romance with PPP and has not hit hard on PPP's convicted PM rather in rallies hitting on Nawaz Sharif. And on the other hand Gilani was also kind enough to praising Imran Khan and criticizing Nawaz Sharif. One should try to understand that rule of law is important for survival of democracy. .Imran Khan’s politics is getting tougher day by day and has become hard to understand. Nawaz Sharif asked Imran Khan to join hands against Gilani but Imran Khan turned down the offer demanding PML N to resign from assemblies before they could sit on the table. PML N's resignation from parliament will only do good PPP as they might conduct by-elections and then appoint an interim-government of their own choice and pass constitutional amendments to safeguard their Crime Minister and President .PPP's failure to realize that Gilani will remain convicted until his appeal is turned into his favor has exposed their leaders legal understanding. If it was for morals and principles Gilani himself should have resigned. PPP is trying to create anarchy so they can go as political martyrs but revolution is on the roll now! The nation has assembled and is ready to drag these culprits out and establish their own government by supporting rule of law.God Save Pakistan.

A concerned citizen's letter!

Below is the letter attached which made my mind think and would allow the readers to do the same. Its a Pukaar for the donors of Pukaar! The letter was directed to Pukaar campaign officials.
Dear Madam,

Your organization has very diligently been looking after the interests and rights of the citizens of Pakistan. Your role and untiring efforts in making our society transparent and free of corruption are commendable.

We, as concerned and responsible citizens of Pakistan feel a duty to bring to your attention the Pukaar Campaign of 2010. The Pukaar campaign was initiated by Mr. Imran Khan- Chairman Pakistan Tehreek Insaf to provide relief to the flood victims and to rehabilitate them. Huge sums in donation were collected through various means including telethons. Over 2 billion rupees were donated by the people of Pakistan to Pukaar to facilitate its relief effort during the devastating flood of 2010.
It is extremely unfortunate that Mr. Imran Khan and his Pukaar campaign was nowhere to be seen during the relief and rehabilitation efforts. The citizen's of Pakistan demand an explanation as to where the 2 billion rupees were spent and in what way. This is a very serious matter and it may please be looked into, as the trust of the people of this great nation has been betrayed yet again.

Regards,

Muhammad Abubakar Umer

Nawaz Sharif at Siachen!

It has been more than 10 days since the Pakistani soldiers have been trapped buried under the snow avalanche at Siachen. The whole nation is praying for the frost warriors and expecting a miracle that those 135 lives are safe.
PML N Chief Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Siachen was an important highlight of the week. His visit was not only been broadcasted on electronic media but was also trending on social media. In general ,Pakistan masses appreciated Nawaz Sharif’s gesture of gratitude and solidarity towards the brothers trapped under ice. Nawaz Sharif ,despite the bad weather, reached Siachen which was appreciated not only by masses but journalists like Hamid Mir,Mubasher Lucman and Dr Shahid Masood.
Nawaz Sharif along with himself carried relief goods and stayed at Gyari for half an hour and then met the families of the soldiers buried under ice. He offered 5 lakh for each family with a job in Punjab govt.Whereas back in Lahore Maryam Nawaz was receiving appreciation, on behalf of Nawaz Sharif for his for his gesture , on twitter. Nawaz Sharif’s demand, of unilateral pull of troops from Siachen by both sides, was highly endorsed by different media people from both countries.
It is sign that change is afoot since leaders like him now vouch for peace. This means that there is an evolving consensus for the need of peace across the political ideological spectrum. Mian Nawaz Sharif’s gesture must be appreciated regardless of party affiliation as he has put the right foot, and words, forward. It’s high time for both sides ,India and Pakistan, to realize that they are not gaining much by losing precious lives.
Nawaz Sharif visit was not only important to show solidarity towards the brothers fighting there but also showed his concern for his people.Nawaz Sharif proved to be a national leader winning over all those who claimed to be more closer to the public.Nawaz Sharif noble gesture should be appreciated and I pray to God that other leaders follow the same path.Long live Nawaz Sharif!

The Frost Warriors!

For 28 blustery, shivering years, the Indian and Pakistani armies have been fighting a war along the frigid peaks of the western Himalayas -- in an area named for the Siachin Glacier and known as the battleground on the roof of the world.

Siachin is the world highest battlefield at over 20,000 feet. The harsh conditions and severe weather has caused many mothers to lose their sons. The lion hearted warriors risk their life to protect our frontiers so that we can sleep in peace. More than 2000 people have died in this inhospitable terrain, mostly due to weather extremes and the natural hazards of mountain warfare. The highest temperature at that area is the lowest of one can imagine surviving.

Recently Pakistan soldiers were caught by an avalanche and are now buried under it. The whole nation is praying for the sons of the soil. For a soldier, Siachin is where hell freezes over, a 46-mile river of slow-moving ice surrounded by stupendous towers of snow. Temperatures swoon to 50 below, and sudden blizzards can bury field artillery in minutes. Men sleep in ice caves or igloos and breathe air so spare of oxygen that it sends their hearts into a mad gallop. Fainting spells and pounding headaches are frequent. Frostbite chews its way through digits and limbs. The soldiers are the frost warriors.

At Siachin while some troops fall to hostile fire, far more perish from avalanches and missteps into crevasses that nature has camouflaged with snow. The war for survival against nature never stops at Siachin. More warriors die because of the severe weather conditions then in a combat.

The recent event have forced both sides to think over to reach some decision about the serious Siachin issue as more lives have been lost on both sides then gaining some fruit. But sadly the topic will be discussed for a few days and then be dusted again and the cycle will continue.

A Pakistani soldier who once was posted at Siachin says, “We are prepared to battle on the roof of the world forever.”

All I can say in the end is “Aa Rahey Haq ko Shehedo ,wafa ki tasveeron.tumhay watn ki hawain salam kehti hai”. Martyrs never die and rule the hearts of people .You shall never be forgotten!

Leader on the Rise!

It has not been long since Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Nawaz Sharif, stepped into politics, but the young lady is gaining popularity rapidly. From the laptop distribution ceremonies, the lady has picked up some fan following and her speeches have shown that she possesses a rather rare combination i.e., beauty with brain. She has become a youth icon.

She is educated and probably the best one to lead the youth. She might be relatively young but she is mature in her. Being a high-spirited and extremely energetic individual, these traits will allow her to work solemnly for the people of Pakistan and to pave a road for development of the country.

Maryam’s entry into politics is a sign of optimism. Her astute understanding of the present challenges faced by our country and her eagerness to work for their correction and to bring about prominent changes and developments has brought hope to many people. Her presence in politics has filled a void in the present political scenario of Pakistan. She had to go through the sufferings of exile. Her Newsweek interview has also given a better insight to her personality and hence shows her potential.

Tsunami Receding?

Warnings of 'the Tsunami' have been toned down in the last few weeks. Perhaps it has receded and we are all safe. The cancelling of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf's 23rd March public meeting in Quetta is a sign that a giant wave was mistaken as a Tsunami.
Marvi Memon declined to join the PTI this month and pledged support for Nawaz Sharif instead. That will boost the PML-N's image because it needed a youth icon. She is more popular amongst young people than Shah Mahmood Qureshi or Javed Hashmi.
One major reason the Tsunami has subsided is that Imran Khan has changed his stance too often and makes contradictory statements.
I think it is time our youth should understand that if it was about winning the world cup for your country, Dhoni and Ponting would be the future prime ministers of their countries. And if social work makes one worthy of being a prime minister, why not Edhi?
I wish Imran Khan well and hope he realizes we need a change and not a revolution.

The mayor visits!

The past week Lahore witnessed the environment of festivity because of the visit of Mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topas. The Mayor was here to inaugurate the revolutionized mechanized solid waste management project of Shehbaz Sharifs government .The visit was not only important to Lahore or Punjab but diplomati...cally for Pakistan. The visit and the reception showed the never dying ties of love between Turkey and Pakistan. I was lucky to see the visuals of inauguration on my TV screen. The CM and Mayor inaugurated the project by driving the sweepers, which will be used for cleaning roads, showing their determination to serve the masses. The speeches by both the leaders, CM and mayor, were of great emotional value. CM Punjab revealing that the Turk Companies waived of millions of rupees as a gesture of kindness and friendship. The Mayor also told that Turkish government shall assist Pakistan in each and every manner to lead towards prosperity. I personally admire CM Shehbaz policies and believe that his vision can lead Pakistan to new heights. Let it be the Ashiana Housing Scheme, the public rapid transport service, the yellow cab scheme or the E-youth initiative the man has left no stone unturned for serving the masses. I salute this man for what he has done and best of luck for the future. Thank you Shehbaz Sharif for Clean Lahore and healthy Pakistan!--

Responsible Media!

Media has always demanded freedom and surely deserves it. But does that mean that the media takes undue advantage of the expression of freedom and uses it as an anti-state tool? This mail is regarding the news that Punjab government threatened a private news channel anchor on exposing the bad performance in Punjab government. The term “threatened”, according to Najam Sethi (a renowned anchor), was misused as the appropriate term would be “protested”. The media should behave maturely before going on to a media trial of any person or political organisation.

Media thinks it’s always right and there is no room for any argument of any story that’s being told or published. If someone does try to register a protest or differ from their views, the person is either wrong or threatening the media. I by no means want to say that the entire media is doing it but a faction of it is surely doing it. Media should be independent and vibrant but at the same time responsible too.

20th Ammendment!

Our constitution was drafted in 1973. But, due to marital laws, the amendments have been consistent. The 20th Amendment is the latest achievement of the government, they have managed to include a clause which takes away all the power from president to appoint interim PM or cabinet.

This is one of those rare moments when opposition and government are sitting on the same side of the table. Not only for the parties sitting in the parliament is this a good news, but also for those who despite not being in the parliament have stated that under the current president there can be no free and fair elections. This to me and many others is a good step for free and fair elections. It will not be wrong to give credit to PML(N) for bringing the amendment as they took a stance for it in the parliament.

As much as I appreciate this amendment, I am against amendments. Amendments mean that this constitution is not the perfect one so it requires a bit of working. If it is so, then why not draft a proper one?

Punjab and E-youth!

Recently CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated the laptop distribution scheme in Punjab University. Many critics have been criticizing the CM’s step as wastage of money. But the critics as I feel were wrong and distribution of laptop will encourage student to do hard work for getting awards. The laptops in today’s competitive environment will enable students to stay up to date with the world and many online resources available help in learning different aspects of subjects. I being part of Cambridge education system have always felt that Pakistan’s education system is one of the weakest around the globe. Innovations was never there and students are only limited to book. This e-youth initiative will break the ice and introduce a revolutionary setup in education system of Pakistan. Computer has been a blessing for me as I can find online resources from numerous websites. As much as I praise Mr Shehbaz Sharif I would request him to introduce a uniform system of Education all over Punjab that meets the requirement of modern education standards so that future students decide to do matric or Fsc rather than O and a level and doesn’t give an opportunity for a person like me to criticise Pakistan’s education system. I don’t know why but I have a strong belief that this man Mr Shehbaz Sharif can do it!

Tsunami, Where?

The cancellation of PTI’s public meeting of March 23 at Quetta proves that the ‘tsunami’ its leaders didn’t tire of mentioning was merely a giant wave. If winning the World Cup could make someone eligible for his country’s premiership then I see Dhoni and Ponting as future prime ministers of their respective countries.

And if it’s social work which entitles one to the coveted position, why not choose Abdul Sattar Edhi?

Underpaid?

This article is regarding a story published in an English daily about the perks and privileges given to the parliamentarians. The story was well-written and very convincing and forced me to do a bit of research on the topic. It was one of the few occasions that I could use my internet for gathering some important information rather than watching YouTube videos and updating statuses on Facebook.

To my surprise, the story was contrary to facts. The facts included that every member of the assembly was paid Rs 54,000 per month without any daily allowance, 20 air tickets to the capital and back home, no telephone bills or any other utility bills are paid, no free transportation, no office maintenance allowance given and the children’s educational fees are not paid. The story published stated quite to the contrary.

I personally feel stories like these contribute in maligning the democratic setup and dishearten the parliamentarians. On the other hand, the Indian parliamentarians receive about Rs 85000 monthly as well as Rs 3500 daily allowance. Other facilities given to the Indians MPs include daily allowance of Rs 750 for a personal secretary, free rail transport all over India and free air tickets for attending assembly sessions, free telephone calls and free electricity. The total that Indian government is spending on one MP is about Rs 380000.

After reading what the Indian’s MP gets, I was surprised and shocked that India spends so much on its parliamentarians. But this also made me think that if they are given all the facilities, they will work in a more effective manner and this shall reduce the corruption rate. A 16thgrade bureaucrat is given more salary than a parliamentarian, not counting the perks and privileges. A parliamentarian is an elective representative and certainly deserves more. We as a nation criticise our politicians regardless of knowing the facts but would never try to understand the difficulties they face. We should not criticise the system for the sake of criticism always but give it time to evolve into a mature setup.

Social Media and politics!

The term social media is known to many Pakistanis now but is mainly misunderstood. Many limit the social media to social networking sites whereas it includes web-based and mobile technologies used to turn communication into interactive dialogue. Social media in Pakistan has evolved into many shapes from being used for communication with friends or advertisements. Political parties have now also started using social media for interaction with their supporters. Social media can be an important tool for political parties to communicate to a large number of people as Pakistan has 113 million of mobile users and 5.9 million Facebook users and about 21 million internet users.
One should realise that only limited audience uses social media and work should be done on ground level rather than establishing a Facebook government. PML N’s “Kal kay Quaid” seems a promising event for finding leaders among youth rather than PTI using youth to abuse on social media. Now as I have criticized PTI a bit, I shall be open to receive abusive comments from PTI-wallahs.

Politicising the youth!

Many politics parties have started giving the youth demographic much importance but this is not necessarily a good thing. Some political parties are trying to hijack the youth and only limit them to politics and use them for their own interest. Political parties should give the youth a platform to express their respective talents but must refrain from using them for violent ends and to promote polarisation. There is a difference between healthy and unhealthy politicisation.

I feel political parties should organise different kind of events for the youth to demonstrate their true talent. Events like declamations contests and Model United Nations (MUNs) should be organised to inculcate leadership skills. Likewise, sports ands and other events should also be organised to channel the youth’s energies into positive directions.

The Wasted youth!

Sixty percent of Pakistan's population is made up of young people. These young people have more opportunities and access to technology than the previous generation. But is the youth of Pakistan ready to lead this country to prosperity? Or is it just lost?
A large number of young people have been going to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf public meetings and say that Imran Khan is the last hope for Pakistan, although they do not know what policies he would follow if he comes to power. The party says it will bring change, but it is yet to announce how it is going to do that.
Many young people see Imran Khan's rallies as an opportunity to show to their friends that they are politically aware while they enjoy a picnic and a concert.
Young people should look at all the strengths and weaknesses of political leaders before voting for them.
